I am passionate about the wildlife of Africa, particularly the big cats of the Maasai Mara.

Since I was a child I have been fascinated by the wildlife of East Africa, and in particular the animals and landscapes of the Maasai Mara in Kenya. The reason for this interest was years spent watching the wildly entertaining BBC nature programmes "Big Cat Diaries" and "Big Cat Week" hosted by Jonathan Scott, Simon King and Saba Douglas-Hamilton. These programmes transported me into a different world, a wild world of predators and prey in the vast African plains. I was hooked and couldn't get enough of the tales of wild Lions, Leopards and Cheetah that call this corner of Kenya home.
In 2016, I finally plucked up the courage to venture to Africa for the first time to experience a wildlife safari with my own eyes and ears. I had been dreaming of taking such a trip for years and knew that the only place I wanted to go was the Maasai Mara and the only safari camp I could imagine staying at was Governors Camp, which had been the base for so many of those BBC Big Cat programmes. Staying there would put my wife and I in the middle of the territory of the Marsh Pride of Lions and close to where the descendants of the Leopards and Cheetahs I had seen on TV lived.
The safari experience in the Mara was life changing and brought my connection with this place and its animals to life. That connection has now become stronger and I have been fortunate enough to go back to this special place in 2017 and 2018 to continue to follow and document the lives of the wildlife that call this magical place home.
